Here is my daily, “I am thankful for” – Today I am thankful to have such amazing friends! I don’t know how I’d get through the day without them.
But back to today’s post – this one is about how I chose to live. It’s about my healthy lifestyle.
Pretty frequently I have friends, family, and even complete strangers ask the question – “What do you do?”
I love that question! It makes me so happy to share my tips on how I live a healthy lifestyle. I know I’m not a nutritionist, dietitian, or personal trainer, but I do feel very knowledge about diet and fitness.
As far as healthy living, balance is what works best for me. I enjoy going out and I’m a huge dessert-lover, so I’m strict about working out frequently and eating healthy 80 percent of the time.

This leaves me able to fully enjoy (and not feel guilty about) eating things that aren’t so good for me or drinking one-too-many cocktails. I earn my treats.
- What do you do? (for exercise)
A little bit of everything – cardio, weights, yoga, interval training, etc. I aim to do something active everyday, whether it is simply going for a walk or an hour-long workout.
To mix up my workouts, I try to do weights 4 days a week and mix in cardio 6 days a week. On days I perform weight workouts, I warm up with a bit of cardio – this could be running, using the elliptical, or a combo of jumping rope, burpees, jumping jacks, squat jumps…
Here is one of my favorite workouts:
I eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus 2-3 smaller snacks in between. I eat when I’m hungry to prevent myself from overeating at any one meal. The food I consume is healthy 80% of the time, so I never feel guilty when I’m craving a cookie or a margarita.
When I exercise in the mornings, I always first consumer a small snack to fuel me through, then eat a larger breakfast immediately following the workout for recovery and to build muscle.
- What do you do when you are getting ready for bikini season?
I live in Florida… it’s always bikini season. I work out just about everyday and follow a well-balanced diet so I don’t have to worry about “getting ready for bikini season.” However, if I want to beat the bloat and feel my best, I just reduce my intake of carbs (bread, rice, pasta) and steer away from sugary foods.

- What do you eat for breakfast?
I switch up my breakfasts almost everyday. I may have a Shakelogoy smoothie, oatmeal, overnight oats, Van’s waffles, greek yogurt parfait, or cereal.
(Greek yogurt parfait is picture above)
- What do you drink when you go out?
My current favorite is vodka with water and a splash of pineapple juice. It has just the right amount of sweetness. I also drink vodka soda, skinny margaritas, sangria, vodka – sprite zero, and of course, wine. Pinot Noir is my favorite red and Sauvignon blanc is my favorite white.
Now I know the way I choose to eat and exercise is definitely not for everyone. I recommend finding a routine that allows you to fit in all the things that make you happy (from socializing to fitness to chocolate) and follow it! Like one of my favorite sayings, “Life is too short to be anything but happy,” so live it up, indulge, and always take care of yourself.
